Novi Office Captures First-Ever MAEP Environmental
Awards
On December 7, 2004, MACTEC's Novi office
received two of three newly established
Environmental Excellence Awards presented
by the Michigan Association of Environmental
Professionals (MAEP). MACTEC’s Janelle
Williams, Ravi Adibhatla, P.E. and Bill
Kotowski, P.E. accepted the first-ever
awards at MAEP's 26th Annual Meeting held
at St. Johns Conference Center in Plymouth,
Michigan.
The MAEP awards competition was open to
professional engineering firms statewide.
The association received a total of ten
project submissions from eight companies
in three technical categories specified
by the MAEP: Brownfield Redevelopment,
Environmental Investigation/Remediation,
and Innovative Compliance Solutions.
MACTEC's
The Factory Condominiums Vapor Control
System, Belgravia/Overton Site
Project captured first place in the Brownfield
Redevelopment category. This project
was conducted under a contract with the
City
of South Haven, Michigan under a Michigan
Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ)
Brownfield Redevelopment Site Reclamation
Grant. Bill Kotowski, P.E. served as
Lead Engineer and Joe Koeneman provided
construction
oversight.
The Black
River Sediment Remediation Project,
performed in Bangor, Michigan, seized the
top spot in the Environmental Investigation/Remediation
category. Ravi Adibhatla, P.E. was the
Lead Engineer. Both projects were managed
by Janelle Williams. The award-winning
project in the third category was Air Injection
Control Systems, Federal Mogul, submitted
by NTH Consultants, LTP.
The six-person
panel of judges included public agency,
private industry, and academic
professionals from the University of Michigan,
Western Michigan University, the Michigan
Manufacturer's Association, Consumer's
Energy Company, the MDEQ, and the Michigan
Economic Development Corporation. Bruce
Baker, Novi Operations Manager, applauded
Jan, Bill, Joe, and Ravi saying, "We're
tremendously proud of their accomplishments
and pleased that our industry recognizes
MACTEC's outstanding project performance
and technical quality."
Sarah Osenroth, John Kempf, Darryl
Pass (Novi), and John Hanley (Portland) provided
document preparation and production support
for MACTEC's award competition project
submittals and presentation displays. Complete
