"As we are nearing the end of the NARSTO Emission Inventory Assessment, I wanted to acknowledge the great job that you... have done in support of this activity. It is notable that the chapters you were responsible for were among the most difficult to prepare… I appreciate and commend you for being able to move this material through the various stages of internal and external peer review. I think the document will serve the emission inventory community very well in the decade to come and appreciate the contribution you have made to bring about this successful product. It has been a pleasure to work with you... Your positive, can-do approach has been refreshing and has helped drive the other contributors on the team. Thanks again for a job well done!"
– J. David Mobley, Environmental Protection Agency ORD/NERL
"I am taking this time to thank you and MACTEC, Inc. for helping make this program a resounding success. During Operation Blue Roof your team of 32 MACTEC people performed continuous and outstanding service for the communities of Brevard and Indian River Counties under very trying post-hurricane conditions. Their professionalism and dedication as quality assurance inspectors for the mission allowed the Corps to temporarily repair over 15,000 roofs... Their knowledge, management skills and dedication to the overall project excellence enabled the entire team to successfully accomplish our mission..."
– Vick L. James, Northern Resident Engineer for a three-county area of Florida, USACE
"We received direct hits from both Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. Many of your engineers came to our aid and you will never know what a blessing they were in our time of need. We appreciate the fine men and women who went beyond the call of duty, working from dawn to dusk to help protect what was left of our personal belongings during this disaster... It was very reassuring to know that someone would be returning to cover the roof with plastic tarps for protection in preventing further damage to our home."
– Harris family, Sebastian, Florida
“The support provided by MACTEC during the 2004 emergency hurricane response and recovery was exceptional. They consistently provided highly qualified people in support of ROE collection, blue roof inspections, temporary housing inspections and all the administration that [went] along with the immense humanitarian effort. MACTEC and its employees are to be commended for their prompt response and dedicated efforts.”
– Kevin A. Powell, PE, Area Engineer, USACE Mobile District
"This program was relatively new to many of the individuals involved in its implementation and as you can imagine the learning curve was high... Mr. Tom Overton of your staff took it upon [himself] the task of organizing data. Mr. Overton worked tirelessly developing various database programs, which organized the work orders and generated the maps needed to get the program moving... We would like to thank your organization for its help during this challenging time..."
– Joe E. Brown, Brevard Team Leader, USACE Mobile District
“Allen Davis served as our lead Structural Engineer on the recent Bankhead Miter Gate replacement project. He asked that I pass on to you our appreciation for the excellent work done on this project by two of your personnel: Mr. Ed Beck and Mr. Jim Page… It was a great pleasure to work with both Ed and Jim. They took a genuine interest in this project from start to finish. They helped solve many difficult and complex problems. They looked at every aspect of the design, fabrication and inspection of the gates. They then identified potential problems [and] alternate courses of action, and recommended the best engineering solution. In Allen’s terms, ‘they are two of the most experienced, knowledgeable engineers that I have had the pleasure of working with’.”
– Michael H. Thompson, PE, Chief, Engineering Division, USACE Mobile District
“MACTEC responded within 24 hours in a very austere environment. The hours were long, the conditions very difficult, and your firm’s diligent efforts made this project a great success and contributed greatly to the Navy’s being able to restore the base to full mission capability only 14 days after the hurricane devastated the base. The mission… was to restore the base to operations in 30 days.”
– Frank J. Loscavio, Managing Partner, Project Resources, Inc. (Prime Contractor, US Navy Hurricane Reconstruction)
"Your MACTEC team at our CE Windsor Site
has made superhuman efforts to complete the demolition
of the Building 17, Bay C, Nuclear Fuel Fabrication
Hot Shop and to load and ship over 44,000 cubic
feet of potentially radiologically contaminated
demolition debris. By rearranging work schedules
and bringing the necessary people and resources
together to meet this challenge, we will save
about $4 million.
On behalf of ABB and myself, I want to express
our appreciation for the professionalism, dedication,
and hard work that your entire D&D Team for
the Windsor Site have demonstrated to ‘make
it happen’under the superb leadership of
Frank Crouch. My staff at the Site have shared
with me just some of the stories of stellar performances
by individual team members during the course
of this campaign and I am sure there were many
more. They should all be commended. There is
an old saying that success has many parents but
failure is an orphan. There are many proud parents
on the MACTEC Windsor Site Team."
– J. Brett; Senior Vice President,
General Counsel and Secretary; ABB, Inc.
"Our experience has shown MACTEC program
management can focus a very broadly defined project
and complete the work on schedule without change
orders or cost overruns. MACTEC has repeatedly
demonstrated an exceptional ability to work with
regulators and reviewers, and to develop innovative
risk management solutions to seemingly insurmountable
problems that all involved parties can accept."
– A. Beach, Senior Chemical Engineer and Program Manager, Air Force Research Laboratory
“MACTEC is an outstanding, customer service
oriented company. Their responsiveness to issues
has led us to utilize their services whenever
possible.”
– P. Schmidt, Environmental Flight
Chief, Scott Air Force Base
"The HAZMAT Team devised a solid plan and
flawlessly executed the arduous task of recovering,
recycling through reuse, and eliminating three
aircraft pallets full of hazardous materials.
This top-notch team broke down over 300 cases
of materials consisting of quart containers in
which 90 percent of the boxes were unserviceable
or saturated in oils. The team inventoried and
put serviceable quart containers into new boxes
for free issue throughout the Air Force community.
Although the oil-soaked boxes allowed quart containers
to become pitted and unusable, the team sanded
off the containers they could salvage, and put
them out for free issue as well. This entire
project enabled disposal cost avoidance well
over $22,000, and the cost avoidance for year
2003 alone was over $29,000. The HAZMAT Pharmacy's
unselfish actions exemplify the highest standards
of Integrity, Service Before Self, and Excellence
in all you do."
– M. McKenna, Colonel, United States Air Force
"I would like to take the opportunity to recognize the exemplary support provided to Fort Ord environmental cleanup by the groundwater team from MACTEC. Their work is reliable and well respected by our regulatory agencies and the Monterey community. They are sought after to provide presentations at local groundwater symposia and have helped us explain complex issues to non-technical audiences many times this year, as in years past. Fort Ord's complex environmental cleanup requires the participation of many contractors, and MACTEC is superb at coordinating with others, ensuring that critical information is transmitted as needed.
We were able to cut over thirty years off the estimated completion time for the Sites 2/12 and Operable Unit 2 groundwater treatment systems. This action has the potential to save the Government tens of millions of dollars in the coming years and can be directly attributed to the team’s skill at collecting information from many sources, displaying it concisely, and incorporating new data as the process evolves. As we make progress toward our goal of cleaning up the former Fort Ord, the MACTEC groundwater team has proved to be an invaluable asset—something we have come to expect from their participation in many aspects of the cleanup. Thank you for providing us with the services of such a professional organization."
– G. Youngblood, BRAC Environmental Coordinator, Dept. of the Army, Fort Ord Office
“MACTEC was an asset to the Department. They performed well and helped ensure this complex project was a success. The project was well-documented, and the books were finished promptly.”
– Joseph E. Crowe, Deputy Director of Highways, Illinois Department of Transportation
