MACTEC Then
In 1975, MACTEC began providing services to the
electric utility and nuclear power plant construction
industries, and in the 1980s, expanded into nuclear
site remediation. In 1997, MACTEC began a series
of strategic acquisitions by purchasing companies
that provided design/build and environmental services.
With the 2000 merger of Harding
Lawson Associates Group Inc. and
Environmental Science
& Engineering Inc.
(forming Harding ESE Inc.), MACTEC expanded
into the oil & gas, mining, manufacturing,
consumer products, chemical and pharmaceutical,
aerospace, transportation, telecommunications
and waste management industries.
In 2000, Pacific
Environmental Services Inc. (PES)
brought major DoD contracts and nationally recognized
value engineering, occupational health and safety,
water / wastewater management, and pollution prevention
expertise to MACTEC. And most recently, the merger
with Law Engineering
and Environmental Services Inc. (LAW)
in 2002 nearly doubled MACTEC’s size and
revenues, and brought the company renowned geotechnical
engineering, construction quality assurance, facilities
engineering, and industrial risk management expertise
while increasing the geographic coverage of environmental
capabilities.
MACTEC Now
With broader geographic coverage and expanded capabilities, MACTEC is now a $492 million firm providing a full range of engineering consulting services to more than 7,000 clients worldwide. Operating
with over 3,000 employees—including specialists in over 50 scientific and engineering
disciplines—MACTEC has the resources to perform
virtually any scope of work, regardless of location,
size or complexity.
MACTEC Engineering and Consulting
Uniting the strengths of the former Harding ESE,
PES, and LAW, MACTEC Engineering and Consulting
(E&C) provides a wide variety of services
including site development, planning and engineering
design, construction phase services, environmental
services and facilities operations and maintenance
services. MACTEC E&C’s Federal
Programs Division provides these
same services, as well as large outsourcing contracts,
tailored to meet the unique needs of U.S. government
agencies, including DoD, EPA, NASA, Department
of Energy, National Park Service and others.
With world-class expertise in a full range of
engineering and science disciplines including
environmental, facilities, civil, structural,
and geotechnical engineering, MACTEC E&C provides
innovative, efficient solutions tailored to our
clients’ needs.
MACTEC Development
Formerly MACTEC Constructors, MACTEC Development
performs decommissioning and demolition (D&D)
of nuclear power plants, former nuclear weapons
facilities, and other large construction projects.
One of the very few U.S. organizations with the
required regulatory and technical expertise to
execute nuclear D&D projects, MACTEC Development’s
capabilities encompass the entire D&D process,
including removal of hazardous materials, remediation
of contaminated soil, structural analysis of standing
buildings, and demolition of such structures.
