AMY DANIELS NAMED APPLIED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GROUP MANAGER AT MACTEC

KENNESAW , GA , June 16, 2005 – MACTEC Engineering & Consulting (MACTEC E&C) has named Amy Daniels Applied Information Technology (AIT) Group Manager. Bruce C. Coles, president of MACTEC E&C and chairman & CEO of MACTEC, Inc., the holding company (www.mactec.com) - made the announcement. Daniels is based in the firm’s Kennesaw office.

The AIT Group, based in the firm’s Kennesaw office, includes specialists in geospatial technology, 3-D modeling, geographic information systems (GIS) analysis, relational database management and CAD drafting technology.

“Amy is responsible for overseeing all AIT projects and also provides technical support on key proposals,” said MACTEC Vice President/Area Manager Scott Condra. “She brings to MACTEC a unique and very diverse information technology background that includes experience in the military, academia and the private sector.”

Daniels is an expert in GIS database development and data management, geospatial analyses and products, spectral remote sensing platforms, LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) and IFSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) derived terrain data, and digital orthoimagery.

Current projects she is supervising include watershed analyses and development of watershed management plans for Lower Creek, Catawba River basins in North Carolina; and a watershed characterization (primarily via GIS analyses) for Burke and Caldwell Counties, NC, which will help direct and support field assessments. The GIS data for the NC project will serve to both characterize existing conditions and guide subsequent field assessments.

Prior to joining MACTEC, Daniels served as Lead Spectral Analyst for BAE Systems, Inc. in Colorado Springs, CO. She was the technical team leader for the prime contractor to the U.S. Army Space Command Spectral Operations Resource Center. Key duties included creating an enterprise data management plan for a multi-terabyte data archive, developing and delivering technical training and briefings and provided technical leadership to the unit.

As Director of Data Services for Intermap Technologies, Inc. in Englewood, CO, she was responsible for managing a staff of GIS analysts, database analysts and remote sensing experts. She was also responsible for writing technical papers, proposal and scope of work writing, performing project management duties, providing sales and customer support, supporting sales and business development efforts.

Daniels served as an assistant professor in the Department of Geosciences, State University of West Georgia in Carrollton. She taught GIS, remote sensing, geology and geography undergraduate courses.

Daniels is a Ph.D., abd (all but defense) in geology from the University of Texas in Dallas; has a master’s degree in geology/geophysics from the University of South Carolina, and a bachelor’s degree in geology from North Carolina State University.
