MACTEC UNVEILS CONFINED SPACE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SOFTWARE

Application Provides Central Repository/Tracking System to Protect Personnel Entering or Working in Confined Spaces

ALPHARETTA, GA, May 20, 2008 -- MACTEC Engineering and Consulting (MACTEC E&C) has introduced Confined Space Management System (CSMS)© an innovative web-based application that allows shop supervisors, safety, fire department and bioenvironmental personnel to track activities and people within confined spaces.  Ann E. Massey, president and chief executive officer of MACTEC, Inc., the holding company (www.mactec.com), made the announcement.

“Inappropriate training and protection of personnel entering confined spaces may pose serious risks,” said MACTEC Vice President and Research Triangle Park Office Manager Greg M. Pagett, P.E.  “CSMS is an effective tool for managing confined space entry by ensuring that only qualified personnel following appropriate safety measures are allowed to enter confined spaces”

CSMS is an ASP.NET application that works within .NET Framework 2.0 and an Oracle backend database (which can be changed to an SQL server backend if needed). The Wing Safety Office at Robins Air Force Base in Atlanta, for instance, uses CSMS to capture information pertaining to confined space assessments.
