MACTEC RELEASES VERTEX 3.0
Only Commercially Maintained Asset Management / Investment Analysis System Based on EMS Principle, Standards
KENNESAW, GA, Oct. 15, 2007 – MACTEC’s Facility Lifecycle Group (FLG) has released Vertex 3.0, the latest and most comprehensive version of the company’s flagship facility asset management and investment analysis software product. MACTEC Senior Vice President and Facilities Business Practice Leader Richard Garrison made the announcement.
“Vertex 3.0 is the only commercially maintained asset management and investment analysis system based on EMS [Engineered Management System] principles and standards [established by the US Air Force and also updated/documented by the US Department of Defense, US Army Corps of Engineers, and American Society for Testing and Materials],” said Garrison. “The EMS approach uses life-cycle degradation curves. These are based on empirical data correlating observed asset condition with its age for different categories of facility components to more accurately predict remaining service life.”
Vertex 3.0 uses web-based technology; facility data can be updated and forecasted results shared with anyone, anywhere, anytime.
“With Vertex 3.0, companies can easily associate building systems with sub-systems to a facility and site, and this can be configured to meet the specific facility hierarchy of an organization,” said Garrison.
Garrison added that based on the observed asset condition, Vertex 3.0 will calculate an objective EMS-based current Condition Index for each asset component. It then uses a built-in Asset Design Life library to predict asset deterioration over time based on asset specifications, current condition and age.
“Vertex 3.0 is an ongoing management tool, not a one-time snapshot,” said Garrison. “In fact, as you complete maintenance, repair, and placement activities, Vertex 3.0 is updated and calculates a new Condition Index and deterioration curve to be used in subsequent analyses.”
