Construction Materials
Testing
MACTEC engineers were among the first in the nation
to perform construction materials testing (CMT)
services in the mid-1900’s. Since that time,
our portfolio has grown to include some of the
most complex engineering and testing projects
ever completed.
Our teams of registered engineers and certified
technicians (ACI, ICC and/or NICET) provide comprehensive
consulting, engineering, testing and monitoring
services by applying sound theoretical concepts
grounded in practical knowledge of the behavior
of construction materials under virtually every
conceivable condition.
Quality Control: The
Key to Project Success
MACTEC’s method of systematic testing of
construction materials is the means by which the
architect, engineer and owner can be sure that
materials being used by the contractor match the
quality specifications. From the standpoint of
safety, budget, schedule and future service life,
CMT is a key factor in the success of any construction
project.
Nationwide Services
and Capabilities
With over 100 offices, MACTEC performs testing
and inspections related to soils, concrete, masonry,
foundations, roofing, steel, and pavement systems,
as well as bolt tightness and nondestructive testing,
at construction sites throughout the US. All field
testing is reviewed by graduate engineers with
previous experience in the construction of major
structures such as buildings, roads, bridges,
parking lots and airfields.
Full Range of Services,
On- or Off-site
MACTEC operates certified (AMRL, CCRL, federal,
state and local Departments of Transportation)
construction materials laboratories for testing
soil, steel, cement and concrete, and for designing
Portland cement and asphaltic concrete mixes.
We also routinely establish and operate onsite
laboratory testing facilities for the duration
of construction.
Nondestructive Testing
(NDT)
MACTEC’s nationwide staff of inspectors
are available to provide fabrication shop inspection,
welder qualification and procedure approvals for
significant member fabrication. Our nondestructive
testing capabilities include steel welds, structural
steel member erection monitoring, and in-place
tanks or vessels including eddy current, infrared,
liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, radiographic
and ultrasonic examinations. MACTEC provides NDT
technicians, inspectors and engineers as necessary
to perform preconstruction welding procedure reviews,
construction monitoring, and NDT of bolted and
welded connections.

Design Services and
Resource Management
With complete, in-house engineering resources,
MACTEC offers real flexibility and rapid turnaround
in developing design solutions for our customers.
Our Design Service Centers provide our nationwide
network of offices with a centralized, streamlined
design process that integrates broad multidisciplinary
engineering skills with computer-assisted design
systems. We add to that scheduling, estimating
and construction expertise to obtain a highly
controlled and consistent design developed with
reduced cycle time. MACTEC’s remedial design
service features include:
• A life-cycle analysis that evaluates the operating
cost throughout the life of the remedial action.
Remedial systems are designed with consideration
for the changing site conditions that will occur
throughout the life of a project.
• Analysis of future site development needs. Our
design team works closely with developers and
planners to enhance property market value.
• Constructability and operability reviews conducted
by MACTEC construction and operations personnel.
• Licensed professionals experienced with state
and federal environmental restoration programs
including CERCLA, RCRA and Brownfields.
• Strong relationships with leading universities
and academia to keep us on the leading edge of
remediation technologies.
• Success at applying hot spot removal in conjunction
with Monitored Natural Attenuation.
• The latest computer-aided design and drafting
(CADD) tools and software to match our clients’
particular needs.
• Value engineering applied at various design
stages to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
From the initial phase of any project, MACTEC
makes sure that every design is engineered to
work and is economically sound. MACTEC engineers
work closely with schedulers and cost estimators
who understand the industry and business needs,
keeping every aspect of the project on track.
From consultation to post-construction monitoring,
MACTEC’s focus is on results: controlling
/ containing / removing contamination, preventing
reoccurrence, optimizing processes, and making
a site productive and profitable for clients.
At MACTEC, we add value to our clients’
projects through a proactive approach and innovative
problem solving. Whatever the scope of assignment,
we look to our clients’ broader goals, working
for comprehensive solutions that achieve regulatory
requirements, save time and money, and improve
