MACTEC’s staff of health scientists, industrial
hygienists, regulatory compliance specialists,
risk assessors, and engineers have performed many
health and safety analyses for proposed modifications
to facilities and operations. Our team assists
facilities with meeting national, regional and
local regulatory requirements, meeting internal
corporate requirements, and developing best practices
specific to their operations. The team often works
with site personnel to integrate Environmental
Health & Safety (EHS) into the overall business
function to minimize cost and achieve employee
commitment. In addition, we have performed numerous
health and safety audits to identify potential
issues related to worker safety and regulatory
compliance of facilities under the US Occupational
Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other
regulatory statutes.

EHS Process Approach
To meet the individual needs of our clients, MACTEC
offers a modular process, consisting of three
stages, which allows clients to “opt-in”
or “opt-out” based on individual requirements.
These stages include System Needs Analysis, Program
Development, and Technical Management and Implementation.
• System Needs Analysis.
To tailor the EHS Program to client requirements,
we first establish drivers, motivators and expectations.
Then, we perform a compliance review and a gap
analysis, identify and prioritize aspects and
impacts, and identify system requirements for
support systems and functions.
• Program Development.
Elements of program development include formulating
a policy statement, setting targets and objectives,
assigning responsibility and accountability, developing
and adopting an environmental management procedure,
and developing work instructions. We prepare information
management system documentation, document and
specify support systems and functions, and develop
a legislative register.
• Technical Management and Implementation.
MACTEC’s process is consistent with ISO14001,
the internationally recognized standard for environmental
management. The process includes developing and
implementing a training program, a communication
program, an audit program, support systems, and
a management review function.
