Municipal Wastewater Treatment
In the past, communities discharging wastewater to streams, rivers, lakes and oceans were among the first to be targeted for compliance with water quality standards. Today, municipal treatment systems continue to evolve as existing treatment systems are improved and new treatment technologies are developed. Ever-changing state and federal regulations force municipal authorities to meet increasingly restrictive discharge standards. Concerns such as operating experience, solids handling, sewage disinfection and effluent toxicity are targeted for facility improvements. The growing complexity of operations, increasing costs for supplies and labor, and tighter discharge standards all push treatment facilities to adopt some degree of computerization and instrumentation. Municipal wastewater authorities need consultants with a broad-based knowledge of regulatory trends, long-term treatment strategies, cost- effective designs and available financing options. Moreover, an awareness of public concern is of utmost importance. MACTEC addresses and supports these and related needs.

Industrial Wastewater Treatment
Industries must adopt treatment strategies that allow them to remain competitive in world and national markets while maintaining strong public confidence in their operation. Further, industries are faced with the tasks of source reduction and waste minimization as well as treatment efficiency and toxics removal. Industrial treatment systems are often highly process-specialized, requiring designers to possess the expertise and experience to successfully select the most appropriate process components and systems. Another decision integral to the selection of the right industrial treatment system is concern for disposal of solid wastes and potentially toxic or hazardous waste products. Industrial wastewater managers need consultants with proven, high-level industrial waste experience, specific knowledge of current and pending regulations, and an awareness of public perception. MACTEC possesses the experience, knowledge and public awareness to proactively support industrial wastewater managers as they deal with current and future requirements that affect the bottom line.
