MACTEC Facilitates Resumption of Construction on Largest U.S. Pressurized Water Reactor
A Texas utility company encountered difficulties during construction of the South Texas Nuclear Project and received a show cause order from the NRC that stopped construction. MACTEC was retained to fill key management positions and to design an efficient and effective engineering and construction management organization to get the plant built. MACTEC developed and delivered a project management information system and a cost and schedule control system. MACTEC also monitored and resolved performance issues involving the major engineering and construction contractors. The NRC subsequently lifted the show cause order and construction was completed on the largest pressurized water reactor in the U.S.

Successful Management of 800+ Design Changes and Six Schedule Revisions
During a systems upgrade project at a high-level waste tank farm at the Savannah River Site involving massive, 1-million-gallon underground storage tanks, the client ordered over 800 design changes and made six schedule revisions. Schedule acceleration and deceleration also required that MACTEC be flexible and able to quickly respond to changing needs. The project presented some of the most difficult nuclear waste management challenges in the DOE complex.
