Innovative Roof Asset Management
Program Saves Public School System
Millions
MACTEC devised an innovative
roof asset management program for
a large Florida public school system
that resulted in savings of millions
of dollars in maintenance and replacement
costs over a six-year period including
over one million dollars in energy
rebates from the local utility company.
Other significant benefits to the
client included a reduction of annual
roof leaks from over 850 to less than
40; a reduction in capital requirements
for roof replacements of more than
30 percent; and an additional five
years of service life for roof assets
system-wide.
MACTEC later converted the initial
database to the more flexible Vertex® program, developed in-house by MACTEC,
which allows more versatile reporting
and provides the ability to integrate
other significant and costly facility
components such as HVAC/mechanical,
pavements, and more.
