MACTEC conducted a VE study on this 76,600 square foot facility located in historic Williamsburg, VA. The project is key to the planned 400th year celebration of the settling of Jamestown starting in 2007. The Museum houses key exhibits and introduces the visitor to the Jamestown experience prior to the exterior viewing of the Indian Village, the Fort and the Dock area. Included are spaces for the Museum Shop, the Cafe and a special reception area. Total visitation is planned at 6,500 people per day. The construction cost for this project was estimated at $13,901,000. The team developed several cost saving options from the original concept that resulted in potential life cycle savings of $1,087,000.
