Innovative Remediation System Earns MACTEC ACEC Grand Award
When an industrial client’s groundwater remediation system began generating potentially hazardous waste sludge, MACTEC was challenged to find a solution. We met and exceeded that challenge, developing an innovative system that virtually eliminates the production of waste sludge. In recognition, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia awarded MACTEC the 2002 Engineering Excellence Grand Award. The client’s Manager of Environmental Technology said, “The process that [MACTEC] designed and built goes beyond reduction of potentially hazardous waste to virtual elimination of solid waste … The groundwater remediation system, including the unique sludge-elimination system, is performing well and requires minimal operator attention.”
