Stream Identification and Mapping Effort Wins ACEC/NC Grand Award
During the course of developing comprehensive watershed maps and GIS map layers to identify and locate intermittent and perennial streams for a North Carolina city, MACTEC discovered that there was no standard procedure for determining origins of perennial streams for regulatory purposes. Our team subsequently developed and applied a perennial stream mapping protocol, the first of its kind for a North Carolina municipality (and possibly the first in the nation).

The project was named a Grand Award Winner in the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina 2002 Engineering Excellence Competition. MACTEC took top honors in the Water Resources category.
