MACTEC owns and operates innovative, all weather, scanning spectroscopy instruments that enable swift and accurate radiological examination. Orion^SM technology is rapidly deployable, easy to manage, and available in mobile and fixed variants.

Orion ScanPlot is a mobile system that performs surface and shallow-depth radiological examination of open land. It provides instant output in a customizable GIS format, and delivers spatially-precise maps with plotted locations of detected radioactivity.

Orion ScanSort is a conveyor-based system that surveys, monitors, and sorts at high process rates, segregating scanned material into “above criteria” and “below criteria” discharge piles. It is truck transportable and compact, and can be operated safely by as few as two trained staff.

Orion systems produce data of NRC and USEPA Final Status Survey quality.
