Risk Assessment and Safety Training
Using RESRAD computer modeling codes (DOE and NRC), MACTEC performs human health and ecological risk assessment to develop site release limits for radioactive and chemical contaminants. These limits — based on annual dose equivalent or increased cancer risk — have been approved by regulatory agencies and implemented at many sites.
We also provide radiological-worker training at our facility or yours, from preparatory coursework through certification and registration. We develop documentation, programs, and procedures for radiation safety, including:
- Control and access to radiological areas
- Internal and external personnel monitoring
- Personnel exposure and environmental monitoring
- Radioactive material control; radiological waste handling
- Shipping and transportation of radioactive material
MACTEC has created NRC-endorsed programs and procedures compliant with worker-protection requirements of 10 CFR 20 and 10 CFR 835. To date, none implemented has ever received a notice of violation.
